Its not looking good.
few thoughts.
1: I do think tht the new NSX will be a timeless design. its just their design language. and I think its good it barely looks like the old one. design for traditions sake it meh
2: those seats look comfy
3: the dash/center console. I think the big knob should be the volume button
4: dem engine covers
5: 9 speed? wow
6: those electric motors in the front...you think, instead of a reverse gear, to just have those handle reverse? it would make for a gearbox thats smaller and easier to design.
7: wtf, I think V6’s sound great!
8: your 355 starts everytime... LOL. sure
No mention of price. but this look like a daily-worthly supercar.

Like I’ve been saying when this car comes up: the New NSX is a Jedi-in-training; a Padawan. It’s got gobs of potential (to be a giant-slayer at most), and it’s quite great value, too, but Honda/Acura needs to take a bigger risk while being smart at it (all-carbon, more power, uprated hybrid system, less speeds in gearbox)

It won’t be timeless, it already looks dated.

Personally, I think the design is cringe worthy. It’s going to age really badly. As for the performance, meh. It will sell every unit they ship.

lots of 80s designs aged really badly at the start. but now we all lust ofter them.
same thing will happen here.

I guess it’s a great value considering the complexity you get. I don’t think the performance is great value though.

Examples? I think an 80s design aging well is an exception rather than a rule.

Sounds like this reviewer’s complaint is mostly that the car isn't designed to his ideal. I did like his description of torque vectoring, though.

look at all years. 60s , 70s, 90s. even some early 2000s. all were kinda ‘meh’ a few years after, but now we all want them

I was looking for specific cars. But any era has a few gems.

Point 6. Yes! A fantastic idea. And one that I would be surprised if we don’t start seeing soon.

the muscle cars of the 60s, the european sports cars of the 70s, the box flares of the 80s from, well, pretty much anyone, the curves and the lines of the japanese 90s.
everyone has had their good and bad times. i think this is a good time for acura, as you can CLEARLY tell, its an acura. not a honda, not a merc, not anything else. an acura. (now, if this is for better or for worse, we will see) but everyone always bitchs that X car looks like Y car and Z car combined. dont really see it here.

The NSX is specifically an Acura. As you said we will see how well it holds up.

True LOL at the 6:18 mark. Only thing it lacks is a metal-on-metal crashing sound from stage-right.

I felt this review was unfair simply because the reviewer couldn’t get past the ideology of the new NSX vs that of its predecessor.
Just because the original was a simple, lightweight, high-revving supercar doesn’t mean a 21st Century NSX can’t be a technological hybrid showcase.
Just review it the same you would an i8.

That one thing i HATE about cars being ‘re-made’. everyone jumps to compare it to the original. the original was 25 years ago. times have changed. move the fuck on.

#6 - I think this is such a no-brainer, and EVERY hybrid vehicle should have an electric-powered reverse, and no reverse gear in the tranny.
Good call!

i’m quite surprised that no one has done this frankly...
the only ‘real’ issue i see if if the battery doesnt have the charge left in it to reverse? but i’m sure you can program around that

I think the overall design is fine, but the front is terrible. Some high-end Japanese tuner needs to come up with a functional front end that gets rid of the stupid Acura beak/Honda’s front end design language in general.

Actually I think the new Accord looks like an Acura, and vice versa. That is probably good for Honda, but bad for Acura as a brand.

I’m seeing $157k with options taking it to $200k.
The original NSX was packaged and priced sanely. Honda knew it had to better the competition in some ways while also being aware that there was no cache associated to the brand so it sat in the 911 (non turbo) and Esprit segment.
Good luck now. Lack of any momentum means they’re starting over; and they chose to fight in a crowded new and pre-owned segment full of serious marquees.
